T. Mullen is Tom Mullen.

Tom worked in a Colorado mountain rescue group, a ski patrol, and the Wyoming based National Outdoor Leadership School where he taught rock climbing and backcountry skills. Since then he has gained decades of professional management and environmental consulting experience while living in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States. He has worked in the fields of management, business development, environmental consulting, and civil engineering, and has been involved with boosting the success of diverse environmental and infrastructure projects funded by governments, private entities, and international banks. He has masters degrees in both civil engineering and business administration, is a registered professional engineer, and has published a dozen books.

His articles and photographs have been published in magazines that include Columbia, World Water, International Groundwater Technology, Resource Recycling, Earth Journal, International Living Magazine, as well in the book Traveler’s Tales – Ireland. He is a regular contributor to Forbes. He has been interviewed by dozens of radio stations and has been a public speaker in the USA, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. He has been an invited presenter at multiple conferences hosted by entities that include the U.S. Geological Survey, the Missouri River Institute, American Rivers, the National Council of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial, the American Chamber of Commerce in Panama, Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California, and the University of Newcastle in the UK. He has worked as a historian with National Geographic, has traveled to more than thirty countries to research his books, and has interviewed over a hundred subject matter experts regarding material covered in his books.

Mullen was recently contracted by a British company as Infrastructure Director for a $280 million school construction program in Asia. Before this he was Country Director overseeing a $230 million portfolio of projects to improve basic infrastructure within conflict riddled tribal regions of Pakistan, as well as to manage both an economic development portfolio, and a youth development program.

Though born in the Virgin Islands of the USA, Mullen spent years growing up in Ireland. Roaming the Wicklow Hills and the boglands of Connemara provided the incentive to write about travel, history, clashing cultures, as well as inspiration. He now lives in Bordeaux in France, as well as in Catron County, New Mexico, in the United States.
